Straightening a Fixed or Painful Toe
Hammer, claw and mallet toes are deformities where a toe bends abnormally at one or more joints. While the toe is still flexible, padding, footwear and orthoses often keep symptoms in check. Once the deformity becomes fixed - or causes painful corns, pressure and difficulty with footwear - surgical correction is the option that actually straightens it.
