How often should I have a diabetic foot check?
At least once a year for everyone with diabetes, and more often if you have reduced sensation, poor circulation, or a history of foot problems. We'll set the right interval for you after grading your risk.
Can I claim this under a care plan?
Often, yes. Many people with diabetes are eligible for podiatry under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (EPC) plan arranged by their GP. Bring your referral, and call us if you'd like to check how it works.
I have no foot pain - do I still need a check?
Yes, and that's exactly the point. Diabetes can reduce sensation, so serious problems may not hurt. A check finds issues you can't feel, which is when they're easiest to manage.
What if you find a problem?
